GROUP CLASSES

Organation and teaching method :

Organiation and teaching method :
The classes are given from September 1st to June 30th by Virginia Pozo who is aknowledged for the quality of her teaching, ranging from the simple pleasures you can share in a class to the most achieved professional training.

Our classes aim at developing in the best conditions the interest in Flamenco dancing, teaching and a lively artistical activity liable to reveal new dancers and train future amateurs.

Living on a a compas rythm is in Flamenco the basic way to relate : to the body, to space and time. Through the different palos (=styles) you eventually meet other people and yourself as well and discover your own capacities in a view to serve body language. This wonderful moment of well-being when you can manage to tell everything without words to discover a flowing energy stemming from music and singing and to meet with the inner voice of your body.

Part of our mission consists in welcoming trainees of all levels (from beginners to advanced) and ages to give them a sound training adaptated to their personal aims.

To be more efficient we think the number of trainees in each class should be limited to a reasonable number.

WE TEACH :

1) SEVILLANAS :

their name comes from Sevilla but the capital of Andalusia is so closely associated to them that nobody can tell for sure whether they are the dances from Sevilla or Sevilla is the city of the Sevillanas. Dances of the Sevilla and spring ferias, they have become the most typical dances of all ferias in Sevilla and Andalusia. Anybody can dance and enjoy them. They can be danced by twos or in groups. Their music is lively and very likely to carry you away. You can see them all over  Spain and in French ferias (Nîmes, Arles, Béziers, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan or Bayonne).

2) COMPÁS AND PALMAS :

they are necessary to learn and
understand Flamenco. Compas is the common link between the three fundamental means of expression : dancing, singing and guitar playing. This class aims at teaching the technique of palmas by listening to and trying to recognise the different palos of the Flamenco repertoire : tempo, rythm, time, stress, typical tonalities of its different musical forms, the tempo of each dance, each popular song, of the different styles and schools.

3) TECHNIQUE :

a technical approach of Flamenco dancing, the correct position of the body and arms, zapateados, working on movement coordination and the way to move about : a teaching method based on self discovery that enables you to develop your own style and the creative dispositions necessary to any artistical expression.
